Conditions Treated
Step 1

Thorough Consultation & Examination

At the beginning of your first visit, Dr. Schwartz will sit down with you for a one-on-one consultation to review your health history, discuss your pain locations, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Dr. Schwartz will also perform a postural examination to determine the presence and degree of your misalignment by:

  • Visually inspecting your posture
  • Palpate the upper cervical spine for swelling
  • Measuring the length of your legs

If one of your legs measures longer than the other, this often just means that the shorter leg has drawn short due to your body overcompensating for the misaligned atlas vertebra.

Step 2

Comprehensive Imagery

After this initial evaluation, Dr. Schwartz will order X-rays from the top, front, and side of your head to create a comprehensive 3D view of your upper cervical spine.

These different angles will help Dr. Schwartz:

  • Identify the degree of misalignment
  • Map out the misaligned position of your atlas vertebra
  • Create a precise, customized adjustment to fit your unique needs

Step 3

The Atlas Orthogonal Procedure

Once Dr. Schwartz has customized your unique treatment plan, he’ll have you lie on your side before positioning the stylus of the Atlas Orthogonal instrument just beneath your earlobe.

Unlike standard chiropractic treatments, Dr. Schwartz won’t crack or twist your neck or spine. During your upper cervical adjustment, the stylus will deliver a precise, painless force that will gently restore the normal upper cervical alignment.

Most patients report feeling no pain or discomfort during the Atlas Orthogonal adjustment.

Post-Treatment Review

Following your adjustment, Dr. Schwartz will reexamine your neck and order follow-up X-rays to determine if any changes need to be made to subsequent treatments.

The severity of misalignment and your symptoms will determine how quickly you experience relief and how many follow-up adjustments your condition will require.
